The PRISM team has successfully completed the following three-phase Semantic Integration:
Phase 1: PRISM surveyed the image annotation data across the lung cancer collections in TCIA, compiled their data elements, and adopted standards for representing the data elements. The result is a comprehensive collection of data elements that describe image annotations we leveraged in Aim 2.
Phase 2: The team designed an ontology-based semantic model for the data elements identified in Phase 1 and an API to enable querying images in TCIA. We have applied this semantic model to the instance data in all TCIA lung collections.
Phase 3: We evaluated our semantic model of thoracic imaging by demonstrating its ability to promote the development of a typical AI application in lung cancer.
